Manchester City are reportedly confident of signing Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City are confident that they will secure left back Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth a staggering £50million.
City’s creaking defence features four full backs all over the age of 30, with Pep Guardiola no doubt keen to replace Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov with some youth.
An attack-minded left back would fit the bill for City, and there are few better in Europe right now than Tottenham’s Danny Rose, with the 26-year-old believed to be a top target for City.
The Mirror claim that City are now confident of striking a £50million summer deal for Rose, with Guardiola’s men allegedly ready to double his wages – just months after signing a new deal at White Hart Lane.
It’s claimed that Spurs may find it hard to turn down £50million for their star left back, but should he leave this summer, then they will turn to Manchester United’s Luke Shaw in his place.
Shaw, 21, has struggled for first-team football under Jose Mourinho this season, and having played his best football at Southampton under now-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, a reunion could be on the cards, if reports are to be believed.
£50million for a left back would be hard for any club to turn down, but Rose’s pace and marauding runs forward have been so integral to the way Pochettino sets his side up, that losing him would be a monumental blow for Spurs.

If City do offer the alleged £50million for Rose, then Spurs chairman Daniel Levy – who has worked so hard to tie key players down to new contracts – would face a major decision, as he wouldn’t want one accepted offer to open the floodgates for bids to come in for the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
Re-investing some of the proposed money in Shaw may not be such a bad idea though, especially as he provides the pace that Ben Davies can’t, and you can expect to see Shaw linked with Spurs on a regular basis given how he thrived under Pochettino, but has struggled under Mourinho.
However, the problem with that side of the alleged left back merry-go-round is that United would hate to sell to a direct rival for a top four place, and without a ready-made replacement for Rose waiting in the wings to join, Spurs shouldn’t sell their star left back – even for a staggering £50million.
