According to The Sun, Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan.
The report claims that the Citizens believe they have struck a £30 million deal with Borussia Dortmund for the midfielder following weeks of ongoing discussion and speculation.
Gundogan has been a key figure for Bundesliga title-challengers Dortmund in recent years and helped the club win a league and cup double under former manager Jurgen Klopp.
Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is said to be a big fan of the German, and the Spaniard’s impending move to City to replace boss Manuel Pellegrini may have played a big part in the club’s interest.
With City some way off Premier League leaders Leicester City and in need of a squad overhaul, bringing in Gundogan represents astute business as he has all the characteristics to succeed.
The 25-year-old star has made 24 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund this season, averaging an impressive 2.2 interceptions and 2.3 successful take-ons per league encounter.
The report goes on to say that after plenty of negotiations and a meeting between Guardiola and Gundogan, the clubs have agreed on a deal and an announcement should be made at the end of the season.
