Rennes coach Julian Stephan wants M’baye Niang gone with the reported Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United target flirting in less-than-subtle with other clubs in the media, according to BuzzSport.
This speedy Senegal international is never usually far away from the headlines.
But while Niang has made the back pages for plenty of positives reasons during what has been arguably the best season of his entire career, the former AC Milan wonderkid is back to courting controversy once again.
After admitting that he would be interested in a move to Ligue 1 rivals Marseille, Niang has been told to ‘shut up’ by 1998 World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry.
Former France international Jerome Rothen, meanwhile, fears that Niang and Rennes are a perfect fit – and a nomadic centre-forward risks ‘falling into oblivion’ with a move away from Brittany.
The red flags are waving and the alarm bells ringing, then, for fans of a Tottenham side who expressed an interest in the £18 million-rated former Watford loanee last month (L’Equipe).
Newcastle and West Ham are interested too, according to FootMercato, with Niang perhaps the latest ‘problematic’ figure to make his way to St James’ Park or the London giants.
