Joe Willock has been urged to join Newcastle United by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, the Telegraph says (2:17pm).
Willock had some concerns about making the move to Newcastle, but apparently was encouraged by Arteta to go to St. James’ Park.
Arteta wants the youngster to go and experience regular first-team football, before returning to Arsenal with more experience under his belt.
Those words have reportedly swung the Willock’s mind, with confidence growing that a deal can be done at Newcastle.
The move could even be a longer one than first expected, with the possibility of Willock spending next season at Newcastle also discussed in the update, if this current loan goes well.
That will surely be seen as good news by Steve Bruce, who has been desperate to add more attacking threat to his midfield ranks.

Willock has shown a key eye for goal at Arsenal in his fleeting appearances this season, and is also very comfortable at driving through the centre of the pitch.
Willock joins Newcastle at a time where they are looking for inspiration as, despite a win over Everton at the weekend, their form over recent weeks has been poor of late.
