According to HetNieuwsblad, Club Brugge are eyeing up Scott Parker to become their new manager.

Brugge made the shock decision to sack their former manager Carl Hoefkens this week despite the fact he guided them into the Champions League Round of 16 against the odds.

The Champions League club are now looking at Parker after he was sacked by Bournemouth, and this may be a vital opportunity for the English manager to gain experience at the very highest level.

Parker has long been touted as one of the next big things in English management, earning praise from the likes of Alex Ferguson and Pep Guardiola, while he was even earmarked by Daniel Levy for the Spurs job at one point.

In the end, Parker was seen as too inexperienced for Spurs, but Levy does remain a fan of the former Tottenham midfielder and he could well end up in north London one day.

He certainly had the backing of his former Fulham teammate Ryan Sessegnon at one point, with the defender claiming it would be ‘very good’ if Parker came to Tottenham back in 2021.

Parker does need to step up a few levels if he is to be in the conversation for the Spurs job again in the future, but a move to a club like Brugge could be just what the doctor ordered.

It allows him to manage in a top division without being a huge underdog as he was with Fulham and Brentford, while the Belgian league is a very interesting league tactically, and that should allow Parker to learn a lot and hone his craft before an eventual return to the Premier League.

The 41-year-old is most definitely a manager to keep an eye on as he develops as a coach, particularly if you’re a Spurs fan.
