According to The Times, Marcelo Bielsa wanted to become Everton’s U21 manager until the end of the season before taking on a permanent job with the senior squad.

However, it appears that this plan did not come to fruition, and Everton will now look elsewhere.

Everton had been keen to bring Bielsa in as their senior manager immediately, however, the Argentine coach is known for not liking to take over teams in the middle of a season as he likes a pre-season to embed his philosophy at a club.

Instead, Bielsa had reportedly agreed to take on the full-time job in the summer and work with the U21s until the end of this season.

This is an incredibly unique suggestion from Bielsa.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the club did not agree to this idea and now look set to appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager instead.

To be honest, we can understand why Everton didn’t go for this idea. After all, they need a manager who can bring results right now as they look to survive in the Premier League.

This is a disappointment for Everton fans as Bielsa has a reputation for being one of the most innovative and entertaining coaches in the game’s history. Meanwhile Dyche’s football is far from progressive and isn’t likely to inspire much joy at Goodison Park.

Bielsa is incredibly highly rated in the game, earning glowing reviews from the likes of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino.

His last job was at Leeds United, where he led the team to promotion to the Premier League and a strong finish in their first season back in the top flight.

It will be interesting to see where Bielsa goes from here. At the age of 67, his career is entering the final furlong, and it remains to be seen whether he will take on another job in the Premier League.

For now, Everton will have to look to Dyche to lead them forward, while Bielsa will surely continue to be one of the most sought-after coaches in the game.
