According to UOL, Luis Enrique is now in talks with Brazil about replacing Tite as the manager of the national team.
The five-time world champions parted ways with Tite after a disappointing 2022 World Cup campaign, and now they’re looking towards Enrique as a potential option.
Enrique himself didn’t have the best of times at the World Cup. His Spain team did even worse than Brazil in Qatar being eliminated on penalties by Morocco in the Round of 16.
However, that isn’t to say that Enrique isn’t a fantastic manager. He’s a Champions League winner with Barcelona, and his Spain team were arguably the most entertaining team at Euro 2020 despite their semi-final elimination.
The Brazil job is undoubtedly one of the biggest jobs in world football. No national team has higher expectations or as much historical success as the Selecao, and after a lengthy World Cup drought, this job comes with more weight attached than ever before.
Enrique is certainly an in-demand manager. He’s also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks as Spurs keep their options open amid all sorts of speculation about Antonio Conte’s future.
The Spaniard is unique in that he has experience at both the top end of club and international management, but it remains to be seen whether or not a move to South America or a move to north London will surface for Enrique.
The managerial merry-go-round may be turning a little bit more slowly at this moment in time, but Enrique is certainly going to be linked with every top job that comes up over the next few months.
Let’s see whether or not he takes the Brazil job, because if he doesn’t he may well be a real option for Spurs if Conte leaves.
