Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Marca, Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez is considering leaving the club amid rumours of interest from Tottenham Hotspur, as he remains confused at his role under new boss Miguel Cardoso.
Gomez, 22, has become one of the top young centre forwards around following a 2017 move from Penarol in his native Uruguay, as he ended his first La Liga campaign with 17 goals.
This term, the burly forward has been in red-hot form again, notching seven goals and four assists in 11 La Liga games, but two appearances have come from the bench.
New manager Cardoso has curiously left Gomez out of late; the first, he played just 29 minutes in a 3-3 draw at Real Betis but scored twice, whilst he also scored as a half time substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Real Sociedad.
The Uruguayan star is clearly better than being a substitute at Celta, and Marca now claim that he could look to move on in 2019 if he doesn’t receive more playing time under Cardoso soon.

That could be music to the ears of Spurs, as El Pais recently reported that Tottenham want to lure Gomez to the Premier League, even though they face competition for his signature.
Gomez would make an ideal replacement for Fernando Llorente, but with a €50million (£44.5million) release clause, it remains to be seen whether Spurs decide to pay up for the striker who appears to be getting increasingly frustrated.
