Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing FC Barcelona striker and former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Red Devils have turned their attention to the La Liga attacker as a potential replacement for the Portuguese legend, with Ronaldo keen to leave Manchester this summer with United also open to the forward departing Old Trafford.
And Aubameyang has now emerged as a candidate to succeed Ronaldo at United under Erik Ten Hag, with Chelsea also reportedly interested in signing the Gabon striker this summer, however, recent reports seem to suggest that the forward is eager to remain in Catalonia with Barcelona.
The former Borussia Dortmund star joined Xavi Hernandez’s side in January after being released from his Arsenal contract, with the striker now earning a reported £288,000-a-week at Barcelona with the La Liga side seemingly intent on keeping the forward at the club for the season.
Indeed, Aubameyang was one of Barcelona’s best players in the second-half of last season, and although the European titans signed Robert Lewandowski this summer, the former Arsenal star wants to remain at the Nou Camp despite interest from Chelsea and now United.
As one of Europe’s most consistent goalscorers over the years, it makes sense why Aubameyang has now been targeted by United, who are desperste to sign a new striker this summer to replace Ronaldo and to solve their problems up-front, yet given that the forward has already reportedly rejected Chelsea, the Red Devils stand no chance of landing the former Arsenal skipper.
Manchester United signing Aubameyang would be one of the craziest moves of the summer

United have been linked with some unusual players this summer, namely former West Ham striker Marko Arnoutovic and PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, yet signing Aubameyang could be as crazy as the aforementioned duo, however, it is a move that seems extremely unlikely.
As mentioned, Aubameyang has already rejected a move to the Premier League this summer in the form of Chelsea, and given United’s massive problems on and off the pitch, it’s safe to assume that the Barcelona star wouldn’t consider a move to Old Trafford despite how badly Ten Hag needs a player of the 33-year-old’s abilities.
