According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City youngster Timi Sobowale is in talks to leave for Real Salt Lake – but there could be a twist in the tale.

It’s stated that Sobowale has held initial discussions with the Major League Soccer side, and he is open to making the move over to the United States.

Yet there has allegedly been last-gasp interest from four English clubs – Crystal Palace, Millwall, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.

Sobowale spent time training with Rovers last year, so seeing Tony Mowbray’s men return with further interest is no great surprise.

Sobowale, 18, joined City from Villa FC in Ireland back in 2018, but has only played once for City’s Under-23, failing to really progress from the Under-18’s.

The Irish Under-19 international may now want to move on in order to have a better chance of playing time elsewhere, which Real Salt Lake could provide him.

Primarily a centre back, Sobowale could follow in the footsteps of Nedum Onuoha, who also featured for City at youth level and ended up at Real Salt Lake.

The late interest from English clubs makes the situation tricky though, and Sobowale – a relative unknown in the City ranks – could end up at the centre of a big transfer fight.
