According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Manchester Ciy are interested in signing Inter Milan attacker Romelu Lukaku this summer.

It’s claimed that City are pushing for a new striker this summer given that Sergio Aguero looks set to leave at the end of his contract.

The likes of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane have been touted, but this new report claims that Inter’s Lukaku is emerging as a very real candidate.

Lukaku was sold by Manchester United for a staggering £74million in 2019, but he has starred for Inter with 54 goals in 78 games.

The Belgian is thought to have admirers at the Etihad Stadium, and may come cheaper than the likes of Haaland and Kane.

Some may question whether Lukaku is the type of player Pep Guardiola would want, but he did address this subject back in 2018.

Guardiola told The Mirror that he feels Lukaku is a ‘world class player’, and referred back to when Lukaku ‘punished’ City at the Etihad Stadium with Everton in 2016.

Lukaku’s technical play has sometimes let him down, so seeing him play for Guardiola could be interesting, whilst heading back to Manchester after a strange end with United would allow him to seek revenge on the Red Devils.
