It has been claimed that Manchester City are enticed by a transfer involving Aston Villa left-back Alex Moreno in the summer.

The £13.3 million (Sky Sports) man has been an instant success ever since he joined Unai Emery’s side in the January window.

As Manchester City already seem to be drawing their list of transfer targets ahead of next season, Aston Villa defender Alex Moreno has seemingly caught their eye.

Manchester City interested in Alex Moreno transfer

Unai Emery seemed to be the driving force behind the signing of the Spaniard, who has brought plenty of directness, width and creativity down the left flank.

The Villa Park faithful have been impressed by Moreno, while also being head over heels about the fact that he has looked like an absolute steal so far.

However, the worry for Aston Villa is that Foot Mercato have reported that Manchester City are now ‘interested’ in a transfer involving Alex Moreno.

With there being question marks over whether Joao Cancelo will return to the Etihad Stadium in the following campaign and Sergio Gomez only having played the position for one season at RSC Anderlecht, they are in desperate need of a left-back.

Considering Pep Guardiola coached him during his time at Barcelona B at just 17 years old, the question remains whether that could tempt him into an exit from the Birmingham-based side.

HITC View: Aston Villa should take a leaf out of Brighton’s book

When Manchester City tried to complete a transfer for Marc Cucurella in the summer, Brighton drove the price up to an extent where they decided to pull out of the race, which is how Aston Villa should tackle the league leaders’ potential interest in Alex Moreno.

Ultimately, the high-flying Villains have no reason to sell Moreno.

However, how Chelsea agreed to splash the clash in Cucurella’s and presented a tempting enough offer, the club should sell him on and reinforce other problem areas of the pitch.

Much like Brighton sold Cucurella at a premium fee after just one excellent season, Villa could take the same approach with Moreno.
