According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City are now confident of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
It’s claimed that City are stepping up their plans to sign Haaland having announced Sergio Aguero’s imminent departure on Monday.
The Argentinian will be leaving when his contract ends this summer, bringing down the curtain on his 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.
Aguero leaves a huge hole in the City attack having been such a consistent goalscorer over the last decade, and a big signing is now expected.
Haaland would be a huge capture for City, having smashed 33 goals in 31 games this season, continuing to take the world by storm.
A move would be emotional for Haaland; he his father Alf Inge played for City, and there are photos online of the striker in City shirts as a kid.

One possible issue would be that Haaland’s agent is Mino Raiola, who doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with Pep Guardiola.
Dharmesh Sheth recently noted on Sky Sports that Haaland would like to play for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, but it seems that City are now moving to beat them to his signature.
A move would surely cost nine figures with Dortmund under no pressure to sell, but allowing Aguero leave points towards City being ready to splash out – and Haaland is the top target.
