Manchester City have reportedly enquired for RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku. Who scored a hat-trick against Pep Guardiola’s side earlier in the season.
According to Bild via Goal, the Premier League champions are keen on the French midfielder. With City seemingly impressed by how Nkunku tore apart the likes of Ederson Moraes and Ruben Dias earlier in the season.
City hosted Leipzig in their Champions League opener. And whilst the Manchester giants won 6-3, Nkunku was a man on a mission that night. With the former PSG star scoring all three of the east German side’s goals at the Etihad Stadium.
Indeed, the midfielder’s form has been electric this season. With the report stating that Juventus and former side PSG have also enquired for Nkunku this month. Yet according to Bild, Leipzig will only entertain offers that are around €60m (£51m).
With numerous clubs interested in Nkunku, City will no doubt face some strong competition for the 24-year-old ace. And there is a strong chance that Jesse Marsch’s side could increase the price tag for the midfielder if his brilliant form continues.
Moreover, City’s abundance of midfielders could make it hard for Nkunku to be persuaded to join the Manchester side if a bid is submitted to Leipzig. With Guardiola already having the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan on his books.
City face a battle to win over Nkunku

The Bundesliga star could be about to become one of the most in-demand midfielders in Europe this January. Yet for City, they have arguably the weakest case out of any interested party in trying to lure Nkunku.
The Frenchman will no doubt want to play regular football with Qatar 2022 just over a year away. And with Nkunku playing the best football of his career, a squad rotation role at City will not be what the midfielder wants with Didier Deschamps keeping careful tabs on the Leipzig star.
