According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City’s scouting team are convinced they’re getting a gem with the signing of Fluminense’s Kayky.

The Citizens are paying an initial €10 million (£8.7 million) to sign the 18-year-old, in a deal that could reach €17 million (£14.9 million) in future if add-ons are met.

Romano says that the Brazilian wonderkid will sign a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Italian journalist adds that only a few more details, and the sorting of his work permit, are required before the deal is done.

Romano says Manchester City’s scouts believe they’re signing one of the best Under-18 talents in South America.

If Kayky does turn out to be a success in the Premier League, Liverpool will be kicking themselves.

The Daily Star revealed that the teenager appeared destined for a move to Anfield.

However, the Citizens hijacked the deal, and now look likely to finalise his arrival according to Romano’s tweet.

Of course, it would usually be hard to get excited about this deal seeing as Kayky is such an unknown quantity in the football world.

However, if Manchester City’s scouts believe they’re about to land a gem, then that is more than enough reason for the club’s fanbase to be thrilled.
