
Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko is reportedly on the radar for Genoa following the appointment of Andriy Shevchenko.
According to Il Secolo XIX, the 17th-place Serie A side want to go big in the January window with Shevchenko at the helm. And Zinchenko is being touted as a potential transfer target for Genoa.
The Ukrainian international has made just two starts for City this season. Moreover, at Euro 2020, Zinchenko was one of the eastern European side’s best-performing players under Shevchenko as they made it to the quarter-finals.
Indeed, Zinchenko has been a solid squad player for City over the years. However, the form of Joao Cancelo at left-back this season has seen the 24-year-old take up a spot on the bench for the majority of the campaign.
The versatile 24-year-old has made just five appearances for City in all competitions. With Zinchenko playing 245 minutes of football, Genoa look keen on pouncing this lack of game time.
The Liguria-based club are eager to flex their ambition following the appointment of Shevchenko. Furthermore, the Ukrainian legend could be able to convince Zinchenko to swap Manchester for Genoa in January.
