Southampton are ‘confident’ that Tottenham and Everton target, Danny Ings will sign a new contract, according to a report.
Hampshire Live have claimed that the Saints have said that the England international, who can leave on a free next summer, will be at the club next season.
Tottenham have had a long-standing interest in Ings’ talents, whilst Everton have joined Everton in being admirers of the 28-year-old.
Both Spurs and the Toffees have Englishman as their forward players – Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin – with the duo picked ahead of Ings for Euro 2020.
It was obvious Kane was going to be the one picked this summer, but after 16 goals for Calvert-Lewin on Merseyside, he pipped his more experienced counterpart to one of the forward spots.
In terms of depth, a player like Ings would help elevate both Spurs and Everton’s squads, who declined during the recently concluded season.
But with rumours surfacing about Manchester City submitting a bid for Kane then Tottenham may need to look for a first-choice number nine this summer, never mind someone to come in and add depth.
As for Everton, they will be confident of Calvert-Lewin still being on their books next season, but more quality is needed in their forward areas.

Under the now-departed Carlo Ancelotti, they lacked cutting-edge last season, with DCL being the only real consistent performer in the final third.
Even though Everton fans expect DCL to stay, surprise rumours have emerged from Spain, with Ancelotti seemingly keen to bring him to Real Madrid.
Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Ings this summer because the Saints will miss out on a lot of money if they let him run down his contract.
