It must be a difficult time for Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce.
The veteran English manager has seen his long-term future at St James’s Park come under serious doubt in recent weeks.
Newcastle are set for a £300 million takeover by a Saudi-led group who will want their own manager in place.
And the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Rafael Benitez are some high-profile managers being linked with replacing Bruce in the North East.
To make matters worse, it doesn’t seem as if Bruce is being kept apprised of the situation.
According to The Chronicle, the 59-year-old is still waiting to be told from the current regime at Newcastle what happens next.
He has had ‘limited contact’ from Mike Ashley and the board about where he stands – and about what’s happening regarding the Premier League season.
The Premier League could be back in some capacity in June following a two-month hiatus so far and Bruce, it appears, seems completely in the dark over various things happening at the Magpies right now.
The Standard has previously reported that Bruce would be allowed to finish off the 2019-20 campaign if it goes ahead, though a new man would be in the dugout next season if the takeover goes ahead.
