Real Madrid star Marco Asensio will reportedly take a pay cut this summer if it means leaving the club, with Arsenal and Liverpool both rumoured to be keen on signing the Spaniard.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the 26-year-old winger is desperate to leave the La Liga champions this summer, so much so that Asensio is will to take a smaller wage elsewhere if it means leaving Madrid, with the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan and Liverpool all interested in the Madrid star.

Despite featuring heavily last season for Carlo Ancelotti and having his best goalscoring campaign to date with 12 goals in all competitions, Asensio looks desperate to leave Madrid following on from their league and UEFA Champions League-winning campaign, and Arsenal or Liverpool could now sign the attacker.

Indeed, Liverpool, in particular, have been heavily linked with a move for Asensio this summer, with the Reds keen on signing the Spanish international as a potential replacement for Sadio Mane, who left for Bayern Munich earlier in the transfer window.

Whilst Jurgen Klopp has already paid a club-record fee to sign Uruguyan international Darwin Nunez, it appears that Liverpool want more this summer, and Asensio could be an outstanding option for the Anfield side if they can beat Mikel Arteta and Milan to the winger’s signature.

Liverpool might have already made a huge splash this summer in the form of Nunez, but the Reds could continue their spending in the transfer window with Asensio, who looks desperate to leave Madrid ahead of next season, and a move to Merseyside could be perfect for the 26-year-old.

After all, Asensio can play in numerous positions and has just come off his best goalscoring season in his professional career, and after beating Liverpool in the Champions League final, Klopp could be tempted to poach one of Madrid’s best players from that European campaign ahead of the new footballing year.
