Macarthur-South West Sydney are interested in signing Aston Villa defensive midfielder Mile Jedinak, according to Fairfax Media.

It has been reported that A-League hopefuls Macarthur-South West Sydney have started negotiations to secure the services of Jedinak, who can also operate as a central defender.

The team, who are hoping to be part of the Australian top division next season, have reportedly informed Football Federation Australia of their intention to sign the 34-year-old Australian should they get an A-League licence.

According to Fairfax Media, Macarthur-South West Sydney have already started talks with Jedinak and his representatives.

“Jedinak is understood to be open to returning to Australia in the near future, especially to lead what would be a new A-League franchise in his home region,” adds the report.

Good move for Mile Jedinak?

Jedinak is past his time, and the Australian could struggle for regular playing time at Villa in the Championship in the coming weeks and months.

With his current contract at the Villans running out at the end of the season, it is hard to see Villa handing the 34-year-old a new deal.

Moving back to Australia to spend the final years of his career would not be a bad idea for Jedinak.

Jedinak joined Villa from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4 million.
