According to L’Equipe, Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has an agreement to join Arsenal with the clubs now in discussions over the transfer fee.
The Gunners have long been linked with the French midfielder.
A report by The Sun back in April detailed Arsenal’s interest, with manager Mikel Arteta identifying the playmaker as his number one midfield target this past summer.

Aouar has been in excellent form for Lyon. He helped dump Manchester City out of the Champions League, with Pep Guardiola a big fan of his since 2018.
Guardiola told Sky Sports in the aftermath of City’s clash with Lyon in 2018: “Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible.
“We talk a lot about Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
A move away from Lyon has been on the cards for Aouar ahead of the deadline.
And the latest reports from France claims he has an agreement to join Arsenal, with Arteta’s side seemingly set to beat Juventus and City to his signature.
French editorial L’Equpe, however, say a fee has yet to be settled. Arsenal’s first approach was in the region of £35 million, with Lyon seeking around £54 million.

It’s big money for a club with no Champions League football. That said, Arsenal are making strides under Arteta and Aouar could make the difference in that race for the top four.
