Could the Manchester United player cut short his stint at Sunderland?

According to a report from French publication L’Equipe, Lyon are interested in singing Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj this month.

The Belgian international is currently on loan at Sunderland for the season and after a shaky start – in part due to injury – the 21-year-old has started four of the Black Cats’ last five league matches.

It is fair to say Januzaj has not lived up to the potential he showed when he first broke through at Old Trafford, disappointing during a loan stint at Borussia Dortmund before struggling to make a significant impact at the Stadium of Light.

But given Sunderland’s relegation battle they will not want to lose anyone midway through the campaign.

It remains to be seen if United have a clause in the deal allowing them to recall Januzaj early and sell him on elsewhere, but L’Equipe claims Lyon want to sign additional attacking players in the current window and the young winger is one of four being considered.

Sunderland are currently 18th in the Premier League with 15 points from 20 matches and their next match is a huge home clash with Stoke City this weekend.
