According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are set to snap up Bristol City defender Luke Ayling on a three-year deal.
The Whites take on Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup this evening, but manager Garry Monk has managed to set up a deal with not long to go until kick off.
The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds have all but signed Bristol City defender Luke Ayling, who will add a versatile option to the club’s back four.
Ayling, 24, came up through the ranks at Arsenal, but left for Yeovil Town in 2010 without playing a game for the Gunners, and after 185 appearances for the Glovers, he moved on to Bristol City in 2014.
Ayling played a huge part in the club’s promotion from League One in 2015, racking up 58 appearances during the 2014/15 campaign, whilst he also played 36 times last season as well.
Now though, Ayling appears to be on the verge of leaving Ashton Gate, with reports suggesting that he is set to join Leeds United before the weekend.
A versatile defender who has played at right wing back, right back and even centre back, Ayling will offer cover in a number of positions for manager Garry Monk, whilst he’s also no stranger to centre back Kyle Bartley having come up through the ranks together at Arsenal.
It’s claimed that a three-year deal has been agreed, and Ayling has completed his medical with the club, suggesting that an announcement may not be too far away as Leeds close in on yet another signing.
