According to Leeds Live, Leeds United defender Luke Ayling has agreed terms on a new contract, which should be confirmed this morning.

Ayling, 28, joined Leeds from Bristol City in August 2016, as Garry Monk pounced to sign him in a deal worth just £750,000, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The defender has mostly played at right back during his time with the Whites, and has racked up more than 100 appearances for the club, becoming a fan favourite during his time at Elland Road.

Ankle surgery over the summer means former Arsenal talent Ayling hasn’t actually played this season, but Leeds have still decided to hand him a new contract.

Ayling’s current deal runs until the summer of 2021, and the defender has allegedly agreed terms on a deal until 2023, as talks have accelerated over the last week.

Ayling isn’t alone though, as it’s also claimed that midfielder Mateusz Klich has agreed terms on a new contract too, and that deal will be finalised when his agent arrives in from Poland.

With Stuart Dallas, Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips already signed up to new deals last month, securing Ayling and Klich too would be another great step – and Ayling’s new deal just goes to highlight what an outstanding signing he was just over three years ago, representing great value for money.
