Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic may already be leaving the club.
According to Il Secolo XIX in Italy, Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic already wants to leave the club this summer, with Sampdoria keen on a move.
Villa only signed Kalinic in January of this year, as Dean Smith and co raided Gent, paying £7million for the Croatian according to The Telegraph.
That was seen a major addition for Villa, as the 6ft 7in stopper had impressed in Belgium and even earned caps for World Cup finalists Croatia before heading to Villa Park.
Kalinic struggled to impress with Villa though, and ended up losing his place to Jed Steer, who was solid between the sticks as promotion back to the Premier League was secured.
Villa then snapped up Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton, and with Steer second choice, Kalinic is already slipping down the pecking order.
It’s now claimed that Kalinic wants to leave Villa Park in search of playing time, and Sampdoria are keen to sign him before their transfer deadline.
Sampdoria initially want Kalinic as competition for Emil Audero, but there may be a chance for him to kick on and play in Italy rather than sit on the Villa sidelines.
Villa would hope to recoup most of their outlay on Kalinic despite his struggles in England, and a parting of the ways may be best for all despite him only being with the club for a matter of months.
