The seldom-seen Stefan Johansen could leave Premier League newcomers Fulham in January, with VG suggesting that the Norway captain may be heading to the Middle East.
With Scott Parker’s side confounding expectations and bouncing back from a miserable start to the season, the chances of Johansen forcing his way back into the first-team picture look slimmer now than ever before.
The 29-year-old play-maker was a key figure as Fulham secured promotion from the Championship in 2019/20.
But he slipped well down the pecking order once Harrison Reid, Mario Lemina and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa arrived to boost Parker’s midfield options over the summer.
Johansen was left out of Fulham’s 25-man Premier League squad in October. His only action across the entirety of 2020/21 has come in the EFL Cup.
“It is far from an ideal situation. I’m not very interested in sitting in the stands or on the bench. There must be a meeting with the club when January approaches,” the former Celtic star explained.

“If I am not intended for a role in the team, then I have to start looking other ways.”
VG suggests that Johansen could be tempted by a move to Dubai or Qatar; a switch that would undoubtedly see him earn a substantial pay rise on his current £10,000-a-week deal (Spotrac).
