Mail+ say Arsenal kid Folarin Balogun is wanted by Championship leaders Fulham – who are expected to secure the second-tier title in the coming weeks. With the Premier League on the horizon, Balogun has been targeted.
Balogun, 20, is currently on loan at Middlesbrough after managing just four senior appearances for Arsenal during the first half of the campaign. The New York-born star has shown glimpses of class in his 15 Boro outings.
Indeed, the striker has three goals and two assists under Chris Wilder. He is expected to return to Arsenal in the summer – with a loan likely to be seen as his next best move. Fulham are one of the interested parties.
It would be a move that makes sense for Balogun, a step up from where he is currently playing and a step forward in his development. It is likely to see him play second fiddle to Serbia international Aleksandar Mitrovic, though.
Fulham eye Balogun: A good deal for Arsenal and all parties involved
It is a deal that makes sense. As stated, the next step up for Balogun – a player described as “incredible” by Mikel Arteta – is Premier League football. For Arsenal, they need to further his development in the top tier.
For Balogun himself, it gives him the opportunity to continue to grow – rather than sit on the sidelines at Arsenal. The closeness of a move to Fulham would save him having to relocate, and Arsenal can keep an eye.
