Tottenham Hotspur released striker Fernando Llorente this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport in Italy, striker Fernando Llorente wants a three-year deal and at least £70,000-a-week in wages as he seeks a new club.
The Spanish hitman was released by Spurs this summer, after his two-year deal with the club came to an end without him really living up to his billing.
Llorente, 34, hit 13 goals in 66 games for Spurs, and will be well remembered for his somewhat fortuitous winner against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
Llorente is now looking for a new club, and Corriere dello Sport in Italy not only claim that Lazio have joined Inter, Napoli and Roma in the race to bring him back to Serie A, but also share the contract demands he’s making.
They state that Llorente is seeking a three-year deal, and would be wanting a maximum of €4million-a-year, which is around £70,000-a-week, but may drop it to £60,000-a-week.
His brother and agent would require a payment of around €4million (£3.7million) too, and those numbers should end the possibility of him returning to Tottenham.
After he was released by Spurs this summer, the London Evening Standard noted that he may yet return to the club on fresh, reduced terms in order to backup Harry Kane again.
However, a three-year deal for a 34-year-old would be difficult to justify, especially on wages like those, which – whilst a cut from his original Spurs wages – are still considerable.
Bringing him back for free may have been appealing, but with Troy Parrott showing potential and Llorente past his best now, a move to bring him back no longer adds up if these numbers and demands are true.
