Liverpool’s Yasser Larouci was the victim of a horrendous kick.

Some things just shouldn’t happen in football, let alone a friendly, and what happened in Liverpool’s clash with Sevilla in Boston last night is one of them.
A hot-tempered game reached boiling point with 15 minutes left when Joris Gnagnon was issued a straight red card for a kick – not a tackle – on the Reds’ 18-year-old talent Yasser Larouci.
Gnagnon was immediately surrounded by furious Liverpool players, while an equally-angry Jurgen Klopp paced up and down the touchline.
Larouci left the Fenway Park field on a stretcher and it remains to be seen how serious the injury is.
According to The Echo, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk made a ‘beeline’ for the 22-year-old and angrily confronted him immediately after the final whistle.
Gnagnon was quick to tweet an apology in French, which translates to: “I would like to apologise publicly to the player and to Liverpool. The foul was an odious act the likes of which should never be seen on a football pitch. My prayers go to the player and to his family.”
Klopp’s side wound up losing 2-1 despite the Spanish side having 10 men.
