According to The Athletic, Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota is ‘making good progress’ in his attempts to get back to full fitness.

It’s claimed that Jota could be back by the end of this month, when it was first thought that he could be out until mid-February.

Jota picked up a knee injury in the Champions League clash with Midtjylland last month, which Liverpool fans were hugely annoyed by given that the Reds were already through.

It now seems that Jota is ahead of schedule, and fans may hope to see him against Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham United in the final week of January.

Jota, 24, had been in blistering form following his summer move from Wolverhampton Wanderers, smashing five goals in nine Premier League outings.

Add in four goals in six Champions League games, and Jota was proving to be exactly what Liverpool needed; another star attacker to bring in when needed.

Without Jota, Liverpool have again had to rely heavily on Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with just one goal scored in their last two games against West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United.

Liverpool need to get Jota back in order to change games going forward, and they will hope see him return sooner rather than later.
