According to ESPN, there is a belief at Manchester United that Timo Werner is “more likely” to end up at Liverpool this summer.

The report has claimed that United are still monitoring the 24-year-old RB Leipzig striker in the summer transfer window.

However, the Red Devils believe that the Germany international is likely to join their bitter rivals Liverpool this summer if he leaves Leipzig.

The Mirror recently reported of interest in Werner from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Superb signing for Liverpool

Werner is one of the best strikers in Europe and has been superb for Leipzig in recent years.

According to WhoScored, the striker has scored 24 goals and provided seven assists in the Bundesliga so far this season, and scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in the league during the 2018-19 campaign.

Although Liverpool have a very strong and settled attacking unit, a player of Werner’s quality and goalscoring prowess would make Klopp’s side so much better.

However, it remains to be seen if the Reds will pay big money for Werner, as Leipzig are unlikely to sell him on the cheap this summer even amid the economic uncertainty caused by the global health crisis.
