Liverpool would ‘almost certainly’ make a profit on Takumi Minamino if he is sold this summer, according to a report.

The Mirror have claimed that Jurgen Klopp is uncertain about the 26-year-old, who has had an indifferent time in Liverpool colours since joining the club in January 2020.

Liverpool only paid a tad under £8 million for his services, but the Japan international hasn’t been able to have the impact like a much later signing such as Diogo Jota has had.

Minamino was on-loan at Southampton during the recently concluded campaign, with Klopp allowing him to leave for St Mary’s during the January transfer window.

But just like the second half of Southampton’s season, he didn’t really pull up trees, although he was only at the club for a brief period of time.

The report states that if Minamino doesn’t leave then he won’t be a starter in the Liverpool team next season – and that’s a Reds forward line that needs refreshing.

Nonetheless, with added claims that Klopp won’t have that much money to splash this summer, perhaps parting ways with Minamino won’t be a bad idea.

Although, all of that would depend on the end result and what Klopp can gain from it.

If that can attract a player who can push to start then it’s something worth pursuing, especially considering there is a risk of his struggles on Merseyside continuing next season.
