Liverpool, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Alex McCarthy from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Liverpool, Arsenal and Wolves all have watched the 28-year-old goalkeeper and are monitoring him.

Alex McCarthy of Southampton warms up during the Premier League match between Swansea City and Southampton at Liberty Stadium on May 8, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

Good signing?

McCarthy is a good goalkeeper who has been playing well for Southampton in the Premier League in recent weeks.

According to The Mirror, the former England Under-21 international joined the Saints from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in 2016 for a transfer fee of £3.5 million.

Alex McCarthy of Southampton shouts instructions during the Premier League match between Southampton and AFC Bournemouth at St Mary's Stadium on April 28, 2018 in Southampton, England.

McCarthy earns £40,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, and the 28-year-old would be affordable for Liverpool, Arsenal and Wolves, who have won automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League this season.

However, it is hard to see the Southampton goalkeeper establish himself as a first-choice for the Reds, the Gunners or the Wanderers.

However, leaving Southampton for Liverpool, Arsenal or Wolves in the summer transfer window would be a step-up for McCarthy.
