Liverpool will reportedly hand Joe Gomez a new contract.

It has been reported that Gomez will get a contract extension, and that manager Jurgen Klopp wants the 21-year-old defender to be part of his team next season.
The England international is on the sidelines at the moment due to ankle surgery and will not play at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia this summer.

Good decision?
Gomez is very young and is still developing, but the Englishman has done well for Liverpool since his move from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3.5 million.

The youngster made 21 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Reds this past season, and would have played more matches had he not suffered with injury..
The defender also played 371 minutes in the Champions League for Liverpool this past campaign, and it would be smart of Liverpool to tie down the 21-year-old to a long-term contract and reward him for his progress.
