According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are in the race to sign Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard this summer.
Odegaard is currently on loan at Arsenal, where he is shining after goals against Olympiacos and Tottenham, as well as turning in a superb display against West Ham United last week.
Arsenal are desperate to keep hold of Odegaard for next season, whether that be another loan deal or a big-money move.
The report suggests that Mikel Arteta believes he is in pole position for a deal due to the faith he has shown in Odegaard during his short stint at the Emirates Stadium.
However, Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all in the race too, meaning Arsenal now face a real battle to keep the Norwegian in North London.
Add in that Real have bumped up their asking price to £50million, and Arsenal may struggle to get a deal done this summer.

Liverpool could maybe do with an injection of creativity from midfield, and that’s exactly what Odegaard can provide if they swoop in for him.
Odegaard also admitted in 2014 that Liverpool are his ‘dream’ club, so Michael Edwards and co may be wise to offer him the move he has seemingly fancied for a while.
