According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in signing Sporting Braga defender David Carmo during the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that Liverpool want to sign a new centre back, with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano believed to be a top target.
However, Liverpool also have alternative targets in mind, and Carmo is believed to be one of them ahead of next month’s transfer window.
Who is David Carmo?
Carmo, 21, went through a host of Portuguese sides in his formative years, such as Beira-Mar, Benfica and Sanjoanense before joining the Braga ranks back in 2015.
The giant 6ft 5in centre back has emerged through the Braga ranks, and broke into the first team early in 2020, showing huge potential early into his top-flight career.
He is yet to be capped by Portugal, but that surely won’t be far away, whilst he signed a new deal in November to tie himself to Braga until 2025.

Would Carmo fit in at Liverpool?
Carmo is big and strong, whilst he is also left-footed, which would be a welcome addition to Jurgen Klopp’s back line in terms of adding balance.
He isn’t the quickest defender of all time, which may be an issue in Klopp’s high line, but Joel Matip has carved out a role under Klopp, with Carmo fitting a similar mould.
As a player with huge potential, Carmo does fit what Michael Edwards likes to do in the transfer market, but Manchester United are also keen, meaning there could be a battle for Carmo’s signature.
