According to Bild, Liverpool have turned their attention to RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate as they seek a new centre back.
It’s claimed that Liverpool were looking at teammate Dayot Upamecano, but Bayern Munich’s interest in him means they’re considering alternatives.
They haven’t had to look very far for another target, as his centre back partner Konate is now wanted at Anfield.
Liverpool have lost Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to injury, so far selling Dejan Lovren over the summer, they could move for a new centre back in January.
Still, with Nathaniel Phillips, Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio available alongside Joel Matip and Fabinho, Liverpool won’t be held to ransom.
Konate, 21, has emerged as one of the top young centre backs in Europe, having impressed with Leipzig since arriving from Sochaux in 2017.

Konate is a huge presence at 6ft 4in tall, whilst he is also quick and can play out from the back – key attributes needed to play under Jurgen Klopp.
The Frenchman ticks the boxes for Liverpool, but likely won’t come much cheaper than Upamecano in next month’s transfer window.
