The Jurgen Klopp signing has been a revelation at Anfield since his January 2018 arrival.

Virgil van Dijk has told Liverpool that he wants to sign a new contract at Anfield, according to a report by ESPN.
The Dutchman has been a revelation since joining the Reds from Southampton in January 2018 for a reported £75million fee, an outlay of money which initially drew criticism from some quarters.
In a short space of time, Van Dijk proved a key component in transforming a shaky Liverpool defence into a solid, tight-knit unit, the team reaching the Champions League final that summer.
The season just gone, the 27-year-old improved even further, helping the Anfield side win the Champions League trophy as well as push a superb Manchester City outfit all the way in the Premier League.

Although Van Dijk signed a five-and-a-half-year deal when he joined the Merseyside club under Jurgen Klopp’s watch, ESPN claims that he is enthusiastic about further solidifying his commitment to the European champions.
The report adds that the Netherlands international told Liverpool of his intent well in advance of the CL showpiece against Tottenham in Madrid, but neither party were in a rush to formally begin negotiations, and there is confidence that terms will eventually be agreed with “minimal fuss”.
Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Henderson, Sadio Mane, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all signed new contracts at Liverpool in the past year.
