The Reds, Spurs, Newcastle and Manchester City have all been linked with the prolific 23-year-old Poland striker.
Reported Premier League target Krzysztof Piatek will not be leaving Genoa in January, according to the Serie A club’s president.
The 23-year-old striker has enjoyed a stellar debut season with the Rossoblu, scoring 19 goals in just 21 games in all competitions, with 13 netted in the league alone (Transfermarkt).
Despite only arriving at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris last summer from Cracovia Krakow, Piatek has already been linked with several clubs in England.
The Northern Echo reported that Newcastle had identified the Poland international as an ambitious January target.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are thought to be keen on Piatek as well, according to TEAMtalk.
However, according to Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi, the Italian top flight’s 14th-placed club will not be letting four key players – including Piatek – leave until the end of the season.
When asked by Telenord about potential January departures and retentions, Preziosi replied: “[Goran] Pandev will stay here, he must also give us a hand while the season’s underway. [Christian] Kouame, Piatek and [Cristiano] Romero will stay until June.”
With Piatek being second only to Juventus and Portugal ace Cristiano Ronaldo in the Serie A goalscoring charts at present (BBC Sport), it’s no surprise that there is so much alleged interest in the player.
However, it looks as though the Premier League will have to wait until at least the summer if one of its clubs is to try and successfully recruit the highly rated marksman.
