Liverpool have Southampton’s Alex McCarthy on their radar.

Roma and Atletico Madrid are both demanding world record fees for a goalkeeper.
McCarthy established himself as Southampton’s number one ahead of Fraser Forster and played a key role in the Saints securing survival.

Liverpool have repeatedly raided Southampton since 2014, signing Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, Sadio Mane and Virgil Van Dijk.
The Van Dijk saga saw relations between the two clubs strained to the limits, and The Mirror’s report claims Liverpool’s pursuit of McCarthy would be ‘complicated’.

Southampton though would be wary of forcing a player to stay who wants to leave, with the Van Dijk saga overshadowing their summer and start to the season last year.
The Saints will hope McCarthy would not try and agitate for an exit like Van Dijk, while wondering why Liverpool simply can’t look elsewhere.
