Italian outlet CMW claim that Liverpool are to offer a straight-swap deal to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot in the January window – with Konstantinos Tsimikas going in the opposite direction. Rabiot scored for France on Wednesday.

Rabiot, 27, has been in superb form this season. Playing slightly further forward, he has been among the goals on a regular basis for the first time in his career. Juve have improved of late, winning their last six league games.

The France international has had a hand in five goals during that time, in which Juve have not conceded. He started for France against Australia on Wednesday, arguably because France are without Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante in midfield.

But Rabiot fully deserved his place and starred for Les Blues. Indeed, he equalised after Craig Goodwin’s opener, and then set up Olivier Giroud for France’s second. France won 4-1. Liverpool are interested in landing the giant midfielder.

Indeed, the report from CMW claims that Liverpool are planning a straight-swap offer. Juventus want a long-term replacement for Alex Sandro and the Reds are willing to include Tsimikas. It would be an equal exchange for the duo.

Liverpool to offer straight-swap deal to sign Rabiot, including Tsimikas

Juventus fans may argue that they deserve some cash alongside Tsimikas for Rabiot. But the issue Juventus have is that Rabiot is out of contract in the summer, and he is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract. His future is up in the air.

So, Juventus have a decision to make. Do they keep him and try to get him to sign new terms before the end of the season – and risk losing him on a free. Or, do they cash in in the summer? Liverpool will be hoping it is the latter.

It would see them add a midfielder that can do everything – replace Fabinho, play box-to-box or even as a playmaker. He has the quality to make an impact in both boxes. Losing Tsimikas would be a blow, but not the end of the world.
