Report: Liverpool targeting Khephren Thuram; father Lilian resisting Monaco’s contract offers

Liverpool are reportedly keen on Monaco’s Khephren Thuram.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in snapping up Monaco forward Khephren Thuram at the end of the season.

That surname will be familiar to many, and yes, Khephren is the son of former France international Lilian Thuram, and they’re not the only footballers in the family.

Lilian’s other son Marcus is starring for Guingamp in France, and having been linked with a move to England himself of late, Khephren has now too.

The Daily Mail claim that Chelsea and Liverpool both want to prise Thuram Jnr away from Monaco this summer, given that he’s yet to pen professional terms with the Ligue 1 club.

Whilst Lilian was a defender and Marcus is a forward, Khephren is a holding or central midfield player, and already has 21 caps for France across various youth levels.

Remarkably, the 17-year-old has already made his first-team debut, making three appearances, two of which in the Champions League under Thierry Henry – including one against the famously gritty Atletico Madrid.

Lilian has so far resisted Monaco’s offers to keep his son at the Stade Louis II, preferring to see how the midfielder developed over the course of this season.

Now, Liverpool are hoping to lure him to Anfield in what would be a major move for the future, adding another highly-regarded youngster to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
