Juventus winger and reported Liverpool target Federico Chiesa is set to return to football next month almost nine months through injury after the attacker ruptured his ACL in January.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian international is close to making his long-awaited comeback after suffering an ACL injury at the start of the year, with Juventus physios setting Chiesa a return date of October 25th, a whole 297 days since the attacker last played a professional match.
Chiesa was one of Italy’s best players in Euro 2020 and was a key reason behind Roberto Mancini’s side winning the competition, with Liverpool reportedly looking to sign the Italian after their win against England in the final. However, the attacker’s injury later in January scuppered any plans.
With a reported price tag of €120m (£107m), Juventus will be hopeful that Chiesa’s return will see their fortunes in both the league and in Europe return after a disastrous start to the new season for Massimiliano Allegri, who is facing pressure from fans to leave the club given their current state.

However, Chiesa returning next month from Juventus could be a saving grace for the Italian giants, and for Liverpool, the winger making his comeback to the pitch could reignite interest in the forward if the 24-year-old returns to form.
Pressure will be on Chiesa to deliver for Juventus after such a lengthy spell out through injury, and the attacker’s performances in the coming weeks could be key if clubs like Liverpool return in the summer with their interest to sign the former ACF Fiorentina superstar.
Chiesa’s return from injury will be of great interest for Liverpool

Chiesa is regarded by many as one of the best players currently playing in Serie A and in Italy’s selection pool, and the forward returning soon will be a great sight to many supporters, as well as for Liverpool, who could look to sign the attacker as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
After all, Chiesa’s position and style of play is very similar to the Liverpool superstar, and if Jurgen Klopp is to evolve the Reds’ attack yet again, replacing Salah with the Juventus talisman could be a great move for the Premier League giants in 2023.
