According to Calciomercato, Liverpool have set their sights on Marseille prodigy Boubacar Kamara, who is very highly rated.

A previous report from the Italian news outlet described the 8-cap France Under-21 international as the ‘new Thiago Silva’ – very high praise indeed.

Calciomercato state that the 21-year-old’s contract with the Ligue 1 outfit is set to expire in 2022, which puts Liverpool in a decent negotiating position.

If he refuses to sign a new deal, the Reds could benefit from Marseille wanting to receive a fee for their prospect, rather than lose him for nothing.

Kamara is clearly a bright, talented player, as even Pep Guardiola is believed to be keen on adding him to his star-studded Manchester City team.

Le10sport revealed last year that the Citizens are keen on the Marseille-born defender, while Arsenal and Manchester United were also credited with an interest in le10sport‘s piece.

At just 21 years of age, Kamara has already racked up 31 appearances this season, emerging as a key player for the French side.

Marseille are no minnows. They partook in the Champions League this season, so the Frenchman’s progress at a big club should not be downplayed.

Whoever lands the Marseille No.4 would appear to be getting the next big defensive prospect out of France.
