According to The Athletic, Newcastle United are keen on Moises Caicedo.

Unfortunately, this report does state that Newcastle aren’t expectant that a deal will happen this January, but the Magpies do have a strong admiration for the Ecuadorian.

Sadly for Newcastle, they’re not the only team in for this young man. Liverpool have been strongly linked, as have many top clubs around Europe.

However, at the age of 21, the South American may well be tempted by a move to Newcastle just due to the sheer potential of the project at St James’ Park.

Caicedo has probably more than a decade of top-level football ahead of him, and where better to play over the next 10 years than on Tyneside.

Make no mistake about it, Newcastle are coming. They may be building slowly, but their place is definitely reserved at the top table of European football in a few years’ time.

With the amount of money Newcastle will be spending in the coming years, their rise to the top is almost inevitable, and each and every young prospect on the planet will know that.

If there is any bandwagon a young player should be getting on it’s this one, and Newcastle may be even more appealing to Caicedo due to the fact Dan Ashworth is the club’s Sporting Director.

Ashworth was, of course, the man who initially brought Caicedo to England with Brighton, so he may have some real sway when it comes to trying to convince the 21-year-old that Newcastle is the logical next move in his career.

Where Caicedo ends up remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, the midfielder’s long-term future isn’t at Brighton. This is a player destined for bigger and better things, and he may be able to find what he is looking for at Newcastle.
