Liverpool reportedly want Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.
According to The Guardian, Liverpool are interested in Leicester City defender Harry Maguire as they target one of three English centre backs this summer.
The Reds have already signed Brazilian anchor man Fabinho from Monaco, and whilst fans have been focused on the pursuit of Lyon forward Nabil Fekir, Jurgen Klopp may yet want another centre back.
Liverpool splashed out for Virgil van Dijk in January, but finding a partner for the Dutchman may be a priority, given that Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan haven’t particularly convinced.
Now, The Guardian report that Liverpool want Leicester City centre back Harry Maguire, viewing him as one of three targets alongside Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles.
Maguire, 25, is currently on international duty at the World Cup with England, and played a major part in Monday’s 2-1 win over Tunisia by setting up Harry Kane’s dramatic winner in Volgograd.
The 6ft 4in centre back has enjoyed a superb 18 months, as he impressed with Hull City to earn a move to Leicester last summer, and he didn’t miss a single minute of Premier League action in the heart of the Foxes defence.
Maguire recorded two goals and four assists in his 38 Premier League games, not only becoming a fan favourite at the King Power Stadium, but also nailing down his place in the England squad.
The former Sheffield United man may seem cumbersome given his size and build, but he has shown that he is adept at driving forward with the ball at his feet and is a threat going forward, but Leicester would no doubt charge a huge fee for their star defender if Liverpool do come calling.
