Report: Liverpool talent pushing to make debut this Saturday; Klopp is ‘really excited’ about him

Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott is reportedly pushing to make his Premier League debut with the Reds this weekend against Norwich City.

According to the Daily Mail, the winger is eager to make the starting XI for Liverpool against Norwich in their league opener. Elliott has been one of the breakout stars in pre-season for the Merseyside club.

Moreover, as per the report, Elliott is under consideration to be called up for England’s U-21 squad.

New head coach Lee Carsley is a big fan of the former Fulham academy prospect, and the teenager could feature in next month’s fixtures against Romania and Kosovo.

Elliott has impressed so much for the Reds that the club plan to use him to replace Xherdan Shaqiri. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Swiss international has agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyonnais.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the youngster. The German manager said about Elliott via the Daily Mail: “He made a big step this pre-season. If Harvey stays fit then the football world can be really excited.”

With the Liverpool boss eager to adapt Elliott into a deeper role in the midfield, there is a good chance that the winger will play plenty of first-team football this season.

And although it’s not yet known if Elliott will feature for Liverpool against Norwich, the youngster has more than impressed in pre-season to make it into the matchday squad.
