Liverpool have suffered another injury blow, as Ben Davies has picked up a ‘minor’ problem, the Athletic say.
Liverpool took on Sheffield United last night and eye brows were raised when Davies’s name was not seen on the team sheet.
The January signing was expected to be part of the Reds’ squad at Bramall Lane.
But it seems that yet another injury has struck Liverpool, in what has been an awful time for their central defenders.
The Reds are without Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip – who can all play at centre-back.
And given Ozak Kabak’s rather shaky showings, Davies may actually have been in with a chance of making his debut yesterday if he had been fit.
Instead, Liverpool had to continue without him – with the former Preston North End man now sidelined.

A time frame on his return has not been given and the good news is the problem is only minor, but it is still a blow for the Reds to be without another option in defence at this moment in time, with the games coming thick and fast.
Liverpool are next in action against Chelsea on Thursday, and Davies’s involvement in that fixture is now surely in doubt.
Thankfully for Liverpool they managed to keep a clean sheet, even without Davies yesterday, as they picked up an important 2-0 win over the Blades.
