Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge spent the second half of the past season out on loan.
Daniel Sturridge has returned to Liverpool from his loan deal at West Bromwich Albion, and it has been reported that he will start pre-season aiming to establish himself in Jurgen Klopp’s first team for the 2018-19 campaign.
According to The Sun, Sturridge has a shortage of options and his weekly wages of £120,000 are also going to be a problem in securing a deal elsewhere.
The British tabloid has claimed that the England international will start pre-season with Liverpool and then fight for his place in the team.
Fighting a losing battle?
Liverpool have moved on from Sturridge and did very well without the former Chelsea striker last season.
Given the former Manchester City strikers injury record and his style of play, one can understand why manager Klopp does not fancy him too much.
The 28-year-old also had injury issues during his loan spell at West Brom during the second half of this past season.
It is hard to see Sturridge establish himself in the Liverpool first team next season, and if he stays at Anfield, then he will have to be a bit-part player for the Reds,
