Liverpool starlet Melkamu Frauendorf is catching the eye with one Premier League rival taking an interest in a midfielder likened to Frank Lampard, as reported by the Echo.
As you may have guessed, comparisons with a certain Chelsea legend mean Frauendorf has an eye for goal.
After scoring five times and producing a further five assists for Hoffenheim last term, the German teenager has found the net on three occasions already since swapping Sinsheim for Merseyside.
And, like Lampard, Frauendorf is at his best when driving through the heart of midfield, turning defence into attack with an explosion of energy before finishing coolly inside the penalty area.
It took him less than 30 seconds to find the net in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Everton’s U18 side.
However, with Liverpool yet to tie Frauendorf down to a long-term professional deal, his impressive performances at youth-team level are unlikely to fly under the radar for long.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a scout working on behalf of a rival Premier League club was left raving about the rangy midfielder during a talent-spotting trip to Merseyside.
“He reminded me of Frank Lampard,” an unnamed source explained to the Echo.
“You take your eye off him for one moment and he’ll appear in the box or in a dangerous area.”
Of course the presence of a certain Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout appears to bode well for the fresh-faced German.
Neco Williams, Billy Koumetio, Leighton Clarkson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Nathaniel Phillips and Rhys Williams have all featured in Liverpool’s first team this season with Klopp, particularly during a season beset by injuries, willing to give youth a chance.
